Classical Dressage
How to organise your clinic –
The Location
We recommend that you organise the event at an indoor arena with a good surface and with dimensions no less than 20 by 40 metres – we can work in smaller arenas but for your clients satisfaction and the opportunity to work many different dressage exercises you need a good size space. The ideal is 20 by 60 metres as then the more advanced riders can practice dressage tests.
If your clients are coming from many different arenas you may need local stabling available.
KEY POINTS
- Catering facilities recommended especially drinks
- Bathrooms essential
- Good parking and turning spaces for trailers and lorries
- Viewing arena – there are two ways to consider this aspect you can offer tickets for spectators however we do think if you do this it is not giving your lesson students much privacy it is important to bare in mind they have paid for a private lesson.
A better option can be to offer an early evening demonstration with a questions and answers session or a public clinic with some riders happy to be the students in front of an audience.
The equestrian centre must carry full insurance and have a good safety policy.
All student are required to wear safety helmets and correct riding footwear. Nuno will sometimes rides horses but this is entirely at his discretion and not considered as part of the contract agreement.
- Payment for Lessons
- Lessons are charged at the agreed price per hour and not more than 9 students per day. If it is a weekend course then price is as agree for the weekend.
- All booked participants must have paid before the clinic. 50% paid on booking and the balance 4 weeks before the event.
Cancellations – If a clinic within 4 weeks of the event the deposit is retained. Later than 4 weeks the whole amount is retained.
Nuno Cavaco Clinic UK
We learnt about Nuno Cavaco coming to England through a post from Stoneleigh Riding Club over two years ago. We booked straight away for a series of lessons over three days, as both Vanessa and I are keen followers of both the Portuguese and Spainish Riding School way of training. We were absolutely delighted that Nuno revealed what Carlos – our Danish Warmblood – was capable of. Much to our delight flying changes, half passes, shoulder in and collection suddenly became a goal for us to achieve on a horse that has turned out to be a wonderful schoolmaster. We have since been to two more three day sessions with Nuno and horse, rider and trainer have learnt and improved by leaps and bounds. Thank you Nuno.
